Bans
There are various types of bans in Rivals. You can determine what type of ban your account has received depending on the penalty details and reason.
The ban message date is confusing. It states that your character 'faces a penalty for' a date, when in reality your account is banned until that date.
If the date is in the past (before today) then your ban is permanent. Otherwise, it expires at the date mentioned.
Ban reasons
Account data exception
This ban means that your user account was reported too many times in a short period of time. Typically, it only lasts for 24 hours, but may escalate to a longer or permanent duration depending on your actions in-game (e.g raging or being blatant).
Abnormal Environment
This is usually not a ban. It just means that the game had detected that a blacklisted program was running, then forcefully logged you out as a result. Make sure you aren't running any reverse engineering tools (eg. Process Hacker 2) while playing the game.
Cheating
This ban is plain and simple: You were banned for confirmed cheating behavior. It could be either reports being manually reviewed or abnormal player stats.
HWID Ban
This is the latest ban that's tied to the HWID of the machine you're playing on instead of just the account(s) itself. There are a couple of things to note:
- Your machine can only get a HWID ban if you've had at least 3 different accounts banned—either from reports or abnormal stats—on that same machine/HWID. Therefore, this would never happen if a spoofer was active.
- If you're HWID banned, you won't be able to log into any account, including ones that are fresh and legit. Attempting to do so anyway and you will still receive a ban message that states you're HWID banned. However, the account itself is safe.
- An account that's associated with the HWID ban will also cause any new machine to be HWID banned if you log into it. If you suspect an account has been associated with a HWID ban and want to log in to check, use a spoofer beforehand so your original HWID is protected.
Submitting a ban report
Disclaimer: While our software offers customizability for every feature, it is your responsibility to use reasonable settings to avoid being banned. In other words, we will not be responsible for you getting manually banned due to blatant cheating behavior.
In the event that you do get banned while using our software, head over to the dedicated Discord forum channel and create a report. It is crucial that you provide all of the following information:
- A screenshot of the ban message, preferably fullscreen
- Heroes: heroes that you played
- Settings: details on the settings used, down to individual ones (e.g FOV, Smoothing, Exploits). Providing the config file itself is also an option, which can be found at
%APPDATA%\.mn-mv(type this into your File Explorer address bar) - Accuracy: average accuracy that you had while playing, both normal and headshot
- Account: details on the account, such as rank (optionally rank progression), whether it's your account or purchased, playtime, etc.
- User ID (UID): can be found at the very bottom left of your screen. It's the number that comes before the pipe symbol (
|) - Other information that you think might be relevant
For every account that gets banned, please create a separate report instead of adding to your existing ones.
The accuracy of your report matters, make sure to recall these information to the best of your ability before providing them. Failure to do so means we will not be able to determine the underlying problem.
Getting unbanned/Changing accounts
It is recommended to uninstall the game with Revo Uninstaller to clear game traces after having been previously banned. Make sure you delete any extra registry keys the game has created, also using Revo.
You can then proceed to change to another account should wish to do so.
